I guarantee my puppies hips and elbows a full 2 years against dysplasia.
If your dog should show signs of dysplasia before their second birthday and a diagnosis of dysplasia is given by your vet, then copies of ex rays should be sent to the OFA for evaluation. As a rule, mild dysplasia does not impact the dog’s life. In case of medium to severe dysplasia, I will replace your dog with a pup of comparable quality from a future litter. I will not take back your dog because I believe that is cruel.
My puppies will not be affected with exercise Induced Collapse (IEC), Centronucleur Myopothy (CNM), or Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
My breeding dogs are genetically tested against all three diseases.
While I do keep up with CERF eye testing, there are too many variables in canine cataracts for me to feel secure in guaranteeing eyes at this time.
The only dogs tested for this are dogs to be bred. Non-breeding relatives can still affect the outcome. I am hoping that someday, a DNA test will be available to truly determine a breeding dog’s standing with this condition.
When the time comes, I will guarantee eyes against Juvenile Cataracts.
Of course, old age cataracts are something no one can guard against and there is no test for that. Some dogs get them and some don’t.
There are many genetic conditions and illnesses that can happen that there are no test for. Four Star Labradors is not responsible for a disease or condition that falls under this category. I can’t guarantee what I can’t help stop.
